An anthropologist turned freelance writer, I am a true generalist, writing about travel, adventure, nature and science. My work has appeared in print and online publications, from Hemispheres to Pacific Standard. I apply my expertise as a researcher and fascination with the human experience to tell deeply-reported stories in context.
Born in the US, I learned to appreciate motion early as I shuttled between the D.C. suburbs and Phoenix's Sonoran Desert. I have called eight states and five countries home -- learning the grace of moving slowly through Moroccan medinas, reading poetry at open mic nights from Charlottesville to Montreal, and sharing 200-year-old farmhouse walls with my equine charges in rural Austria. Eventually, love and a PhD landed me in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and Fort Collins, CO now serves as home-base for explorations near and far. An avid climber, I frequently venture around the western US, reveling in the high desert's wide open skies and humbling harshness. In recent years, my international travels have seen me scaling cliffs above Thailand's Andaman Sea, navigating Icelandic lava fields on horseback, and sampling homemade rakija throughout the former Yugoslavia.
In addition to my editorial work, I craft marketing advertorials and consult on qualitative research projects.
